In case a candidate from the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton wins the presidential election, she may consider providing lethal weapons to Ukraine, said a former US Ambassador to Ukraine Steven Pifer.
- If she is elected in November, she will probably follow President Obama's policies and, perhaps, provide stronger support for Ukraine. For example, depending on Russia’s behavior, she can consider the possibility of providing lethal weapons to Ukraine, said Pifer in an interview with "Segodnya".
At the same time, according to the diplomat, a Republican candidate Donald Trump has proposed to restore relations with Russia and reduce the US attention to NATO.
- None of the Trump’s steps will promise a good policy of the US towards Ukraine, said Pifer. Previously, Steven Pifer expressed confidence that Russia would fail to deploy nuclear warheads in occupied Crimea.
