The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan still adheres to the position that the Syrian city of Raqqa must be cleared of ISIL terrorists, according to the Reuters news agency.
Erdogan said that Raqqa remains the place of main concentration of the ISIL terrorist forces.
“In cooperation with the International Coalition, we can conduct a military operation to clear Raqqa of the ISIL terrorists. Ministers, advisers and military personnel of our states are already holding negotiations. And if they make a decision on the operation, it will be carried out.”
Erdogan stressed that the main objectives of the possible operation are cleaning of the city from the Islamic State, restoration of peace and returning the city back to its inhabitants.
