KYIV (QHA) -

Representative of the Commissioner for Public Relations and Information Technology Mikhail Chaplyga in a comment to QHA correspondent said that the verification of the lists has already been carried out.

“Verification was conducted in two weeks. It required traveling thousands of kilometers, almost the whole country, to verify the desire or unwillingness of people included in the lists for exchange of so-called LPR and DPR. These are citizens of Ukraine at the territories controlled by the Ukrainian government, who are of interest in the ORDLO.”

Chaplyga clarified that since citizens of the country can not be transferred somewhere against their will, it was necessary to make sure that these people agree to be displaced.

Verification of those people who are in prison, according to the representative of the Ombudsman, was carried out via videoconference with the regional offices of the Ombudsman.

"We are talking about those who have served their sentence, whose preventive measure was not connected with deprivation of liberty, or those on probation. We will present all the results in Minsk and hope that we will overcome the last obstacle to the liberation of people and the beginning of the exchange.”

Asked by a QHA correspondent who will participate in negotiations, Mikhail Chaplyga said that it is difficult to say yet, and recalled that the office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine does not participate in the Minsk process.

"The Office of the Ombudsman was involved as an office that has the confidence of all parties, including international organizations," he explained.

Reference: April 28 the verification of prisoners began in the Donbas, which was agreed with the humanitarian subgroup of the Tripartite Contact Group in Minsk. Verification of the hostages was supposed to start earlier, on April 18, but then it was foiled by militants.

Representatives of the "DPR" and "LPR" keep 128 Ukrainian citizens in captivity. The list of those whom they demand to hand over to ORDLO within the exchange of prisoners, include almost two hundred people who want to stay on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
