The details of the UN specialized agency Forum became known through the publication on the narodna.info information resource and Twitter.
"Ukraine's Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UNESCO Oleh Shamshur informed the participants about the situation on the peninsula, in particular, he told about numerous violations of human rights in all areas of UNESCO's competence," says the report.
Shamshur emphasized that the decision of the RF Supreme Court to ban the Mejlis is "an attempt to destroy the democratic institutions of the Crimean Tatar people on the peninsula," and its refusal to grant an appeal demanding to change prior illegal decision is yet another confirmation of the consistent intimidation policy against the Crimean Tatars and their rights violation.
It should be noted that the event, which was attended by approximately 150 accredited to UNESCO representatives of member countries permanent missions and members of the UNESCO Secretariat, is extremely important in the context of political and diplomatic efforts of our country to attract proper attention of the international community to the situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation. Thus, UNESCO - the UN most representative international organization - has once again confirmed the illegality of the annexation of the Crimea and Sevastopol.
