UN: 127 people died in South-Eastern Ukraine due to the violence

UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic has reported about 127 people, who have died in South-Eastern Ukraine because of violence.

He informed about this at the UN Security Council closed meeting on the situation in Ukraine, BBC Ukrainian service reports.

According to him, the human rights situation in the East has deteriorated, which may badly affect the presidential elections in Ukraine.

More arms appeared in the region and cases of its use happen more frequently, as well as a range of other violence,
- Simonovic told.

UN Assistant Secretary-General has noticed that "a numerous occasions of illegal apprehension, abduction have been noted, especially involving reporters and the members of election commissions, which may significantly complicate the conduction of the presidential elections in Eastern Ukraine".
