Deputy Chairmen of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov and Akhtem Chiygoz met with representatives of the US Presidential Administration Donald Trump and representative of Senator Richard Durbin (Illinois) in Washington (USA), according to the message on the page of Ilmi Umerov on Facebook.

During the meetings they discussed the political situation in Eastern Europe, Ukraine and on the annexed Crimean peninsula.


Ilmi Umerov and Akhtem Chiygoz during the event "Crimea, four years of annexation" told about the events in the Crimea after the Russian occupation.

“Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov told the audience about the events that took place after the annexation and the beginning of the occupation in the Crimea, about current events, including the repression by the Russian authorities against the citizens of Ukraine - the Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea,” reads the message.

QHA reported that Umerov and Chiygoz during the meetings in Washington on May 15 told about the current situation in the occupied Crimea. At the meetings, the implementation of political and diplomatic instruments that could contribute to the de-occupation of the peninsula was also discussed.
