BRUSSELS (QHA) -

The European Parliament postponed consideration of a visa-free regime for Ukraine until April 2017, according to the bill registration card on the European Parliament website.

It is noted that the issue of Ukrainian visa-free regime will be considered in the first reading of April 3, 2017. At the same time, Georgians can obtain visa-free regime earlier than Ukrainians that is in February 2, 2017.

“Trialogue on visa liberalization for Georgia is likely to occur on Wednesday. And a trialogue on Ukraine - only when a mechanism to suspend the future visa-free regime will be formally adopted - at the beginning of next year,” Rickard Yozvyak, correspondent of "Radio Liberty" in Brussels, wrote on Twitter.

On Thursday, December 15, the European Parliament voted in favor of a mechanism of the visa-free regime suspension.

December 8, the European Union agreed on a mechanism of hypothetical suspension of visa-free regime, which was a condition for granting it to Ukraine. In December 2015 the European Commission reported on Ukraine and Georgia to have implemented all the conditions for visa liberalization with the EU. At the same time Brussels prolonged the decision.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hoped Ukraine would obtain visa-free regime November 24 this year at the EU summit, but his predictions were futile.
