Ukrainian and Turkish flags, depicted on the memorial stone on the entrance to Zincirli Madrasa in Bakhchisaray -- one of Crimea’s most famous historical sights -- were removed.

The stone was put there in 2009, the inscriptions, written in Ukrainian, Turkish and English, read that the Madrasa and the tomb of Haji-Geray Khan were restored by TIKA-- Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.According to head of Bakhchisaray Historical and Cultural Preserve Elmira Ablyalimova, the Ukrainian and Turkish flags were missed a year ago.

“The fact that the flags were removed is not the news for today. They were removed last year. They were not even removed, they were missed. That is all. I don’t know what happened to them”- Ablyalimova said, adding that the incident is not related with political situation in the region.

Meanwhile, the Zincirli Madrasa’s stuff believes that the flags were removed expressly to “do away everything related with Ukraine and Turkey in Crimea”.
