The Batkivshchyna faction has started collecting 150 signatures of people's deputies under the text of the Constitution of 2004, without amendments and additions, so that it could urgently be put to the vote in the Verkhovna Rada.

The chairman of the political council of the Batkivshchyna All-Ukrainian Union and the Batkivshchyna faction leader, Arseniy Yatseniuk, said this in a program aired on Ukrainian television, reports Ukrinform.

"I want to officially state that the Batkivschyna faction is appealing to our opposition colleagues to collect from tomorrow [Tuesday] 150 signatures, as required by the current Constitution, under the text of the 2004 Constitution without any additions and amendments, as the Venice Commission has demanded from us," Yatseniuk said.

He said that the Maidan is demanding this and that this should be done urgently "and then we will revise, finalize and improve the Ukrainian Constitution."
