The MP and coordinator of the "Information Resistance" group, referring to the General Staff and Ministry of Defense of Ukraine says that the cost of the assets left by the Ukrainian Navy in Crimea and Sevastopol is worth UAH 1 billion 495 million.
According to him, some of the equipment, though, was successfully withdrawn from the Crimea by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Thus, 3 warships, 32 support vessels, 1,438 vehicles and 25 aircrafts (airplanes and helicopters) were taken to the Ukrainian territory. At the same time, 11 warships, 6 supporting vessels, 2,363 vehicles, 3 aircrafts, and 6 coastal anti-ship systems were left on the occupied territory.
The other munitions remaining in the Crimea have not been estimated yet, according to the MP.
Tymchuk also notes that Ukraine negotiates with the West about the possibility of transferring Navy Coast Guard cutters, (from the US, for free), corvettes and minesweepers to Ukraine. According to him, it will be formerly used equipment that can be purchased for the lowest possible price.
There are also negotiations with the European countries of the former Warsaw Pact about the supply of spare parts and ammunition to the naval equipment produced in the Soviet Union, which are used by the Ukrainian Navy. Several units of support vessels the Navy expects to receive from the Ukrainian community structures.
Crimea seceded from Ukraine and joined Russia a year ago, following a local referendum on the region’s status, which was condemned illegitimate by international community.
