KYIV (QHA) -

Today, Nadezhda Savchenko, a Ukrainian pilot and Hero of Ukraine illegally convicted in the Russian Federation, marks her 35th anniversary. This is the second birthday she meets in Russian prison. Over this period, Nadezhda has impressed the world with her strength of mind and become a symbol of “invincibility.” Rallies in support of Nadezhda Savcheko are held throughout the world, including Russia.

Ukrainian MPs also congratulated Savchenko, a member of Batkivshchyna party, laying a large bouquet of white roses on her desk in the session hall, a QHA journalist reports.

It was reported earlier that the Russian Federation began compiling documents for Savchenko’s extradition to Ukraine. The set of documents will then be sent to the RF Ministry of Justice to harmonize the issue of extradition with the relevant Ukrainian authority.

March 22, Russian court sentenced Nadezhda Savchenko to 22 years' imprisonment in a strict regime prison for alleged "murder of Russian journalists" Igor Korneliuk and Anton Voloshin. She was also awarded a penalty in the amount of RUB 30 thousand for "illegal border crossing."

April 18, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the issues of immediate release of Nadezhda Savchenko as well as Russian military Eugene Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov.

Maria Ivanovna, mother of Nadezhda Savchenko, said that she paid the penalty of RUB 30 thousand, assigned by a Russian court.
