Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine demands from the Crimean occupying authorities to release the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Marian Betz reported on Twitter.
- The health state of Ilmi Umerov is very poor. We demand that the occupation authorities immediately stop the repressions, punitive methods and #FreeUmerov, wrote Betz.
Yesterday, 21 August, according to the Head of the CEC of the Kurultai of Crimean Tatars Zair Smedlyaev, the health state of the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov has deteriorated sharply. He lost consciousness, presumably due to the aggravation of hypertensive crisis.
May 19, the occupation authorities accused Umerov of separatist statements during his speech at the ATR TV Channel when the Mejlis Deputy Chairman said "it is necessary to force Russia to pull back from Crimea and Donbas."
Following that, the FSB in the Crimea has launched a criminal case against Umerov "on suspicion of incitement to violation of territorial integrity of the Russian Federation."
Ilmi Umerov started feeling sick at the hearing on August, 11 in the city of Simferopol. He was hospitalized with heart attack risk.
August, 18 FSB officers illegally transferred Umerov from the hospital to a psychiatric clinic, taking away vital medication and allowing him to see his family in a strictly specified time.
