(QHA) -

Ukraine will cooperate with Turk and Arabic countries on Crimean issue. Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov announced this on the air of Ukrainian television.

According to Chubarov the following decision was made during the meeting of Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Jemilev with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin July 10.

“During our meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Klimkin we discussed the issues on cooperation with Turk and Arabic countries, with Muslim countries. We are working on the issue, still we need a big work from Ukrainian side”- Chubarov said.

Chubarov also noted that most of the problems could have been avoided.

“Unfortunately, most of the difficulties and wrong things we face today, could have been avoided if Ukraine joined the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2005 as an observer as Russia did. There are about 20 mln Muslims in Russia, still Muslims live in Ukraine as well. Today Ukraine should take active steps towards cooperation in order to rely on international organizations”- he noted.

As we earlier reported, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) together with Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people will monitor situation in Crimea, regarding the respect for Muslims’ rights in Crimea.

Note: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an international organisation consisting of 57 member states. The organisation states that it is "the collective voice of the Muslim world" and works to "safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony".

The OIC has a permanent delegation to the United Nations. The official languages of the OIC are Arabic, English and French.
