The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has temporarily suspended the supply of a number of drugs from Russia, which contain high levels of lead, the SSU’s press service reports.

“The Ministry of Economic Development of Ukraine has imposed special sanctions, in the form of temporary suspension of foreign economic activity, on Russian supplier and Ukrainian importer of hazardous drugs,” reads the statement. 

According to the Ministry, the medical examination has revealed the excessive levels of lead and cadmium, which is 10 times higher than normal.

The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine is considering banning the circulation of relevant medicines in Ukraine.
