Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko awarded Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov and activist Alexander Kolchenko, sentenced in Russia on frame-up charges, the “Order for courage” 1st degree. The corresponding decree was signed Thursday, Sept. 24.

Reminder: 39-year-old filmmaker from the city of Simferopol Oleg Sentsov was an active participant in the Dignity revolution and Auto Maidan. In May 2014 the authorities of the Russia-occupied Crimea detained him along with 25-year-old Alexander Kolchenko and several Ukrainians.

Aug. 25, 2015 in Rostov-on-Don, Oleg Sentsov has been sentenced to 20 years, and Alexander Kol'chenko - to 10 years imprisonment in a penal colony.
