“The Minister stressed that blatant and systemic violations of the rights of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea require the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to come up with a special report and ensure presence of international monitoring missions on the peninsula,” says a statement posted on the Ministry’s official website.

Mr. Klimkin also thanked Mr. Simonovic for the UN efforts in drawing attention to gross violations of human rights perpetrated by Russian-backed terrorists in eastern Ukraine and Russian-occupied Crimea.

The Minister made a special mention of ‘active and unbiased activities of the UN Monitoring Mission for Human Rights’, which has been operating in Ukraine since March 15, 2014, at the Ukrainian government’s request.
