Ukrainian MPs have supported a bill on preventing manifestations of separatism and other encroachments on Ukraine's national security,Interfax-Ukraine reports.
A total of 319 MPs voted for bill No. 4183 on preventing manifestations of separatism and other encroachments on Ukraine's national security.
The law takes effect from February 25, 2014.
To recall, Crimean Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Konstantinov noted that the Autonomous Republic may secede from Ukraine if tensions escalate further in the country.
On Feb. 4 Crimean Parliament decided to initiate changes to the Crimean Constitution and appealed to President of Russia Vladimir Putin for support.
About 1000 protesters picketed the building of Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv, demanding to probe into “separatist statements of the Crimean Parliament”.
The Security Service of Ukraine has begun criminal proceedings in connection with the preparation for encroachment the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
