Participants in the Minsk talks have reached a consensus on establishment of full ceasefire in Donbas from 0.00 a.m., December 24.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko greeted the efforts of the Tripartite Contact Group on the agreements via his Twitter account.
"I welcome the achievements of the Tripartite Contact Group, in response to my initiative on implementation of extra measures to establish a permanent, open-ended and comprehensive ceasefire, starting from 0.00 a.m. on December 24, 2016. I hope that, due to these measures that will be implemented on the eve of New Year's and Christmas holidays, the ceasefire in Donbas will become permanent," President said.
He also expects that Russia, in the framework of Minsk agreements, will ensure steady "ceasefire," as well as release the hostages taken by terrorists of ORDLO (the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions - Ed.) and those kept on the territory of Russia.
However, according to reports posted on the ATO press center's Facebook page, pro-Russian terrorists launched provocative attacks in Luhansk sector just 25 minutes after the announcement of full ceasefire. The terrorists also attacked Marinka and Shyrokyne between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. According to ATO press center, Ukrainian military did not respond to the provocation.
As QHA reported earlier, First Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko said that the pro-Russian militants of ORDLO had not included many Ukrainian prisoners in the exchange list in an attempt to hide the fact of their detention.
