(QHA) -

Kiev's Prosecutor Office launched a case against presidential candidate Oleg Tsarev charging him with "infringement of territorial sovereignty", the office's press service reported Tuesday.

"The Prosecutor reaction is in line with Tsarev's public speech during a public event as well as in the press in which he called for the separation of the country, and encroached on the territorial sovereignty of the state with separatist intentions," the press service said.

MP Oleg Tsarev, former member of Party of Regions—party of Ukrainian ousted President Yanukovych— was beaten early on Tuesday by a crowd that took exception to comments he made in a television interview.
