Ukraine and Turkey resume talks on FTA

The Heads of the States instructed their ministers to resume talks as early as March.

The talks on a free trade area between Ukraine and Turkey will be resumed, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and the Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutolgu told a briefingon February 15 in Kyiv as cited by a QHA newsman.

- The talks on the FTA have been suspended in 2013. However, today we give instructions to our ministers to resume the negotiations in March, said Yatsenyuk.

Davutolgu said he had instructed his ministers to resume talks on the FTA as soon as possible and voiced a hope that in 2018 the trade turnover between Ukraine and Turkey will reach USD 10 billion.

The Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu has arrived in Ukraine at the invitation of Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. During the visit, Davutoglu is to meet the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Vladimir Groisman and Mustafa Dzhemilev, a national leader of the Crimean Tatar people, the Ukrainian Presidential Envoy for Crimean Tatar People's affairs.
