Ukrainian government to allocate UAH 25 mln ($ 2 mln) to provide Crimean refugees with housing.
Minister of Cabinet Ostap Semerak said government to allocate not more than UAH 200 per refugee. Money will be given to sanatoriums or other institutions that provide the refugees with housing.
According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 38,000 residents of the eastern regions of Ukraine and Crimea have left those regions since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
Most of the internally displaced persons are children, women, and old people. The UNHCR reported that these categories of people need special attention from public bodies and civil society, UNHCR’s report reads.
According to the UNHCR, 2,500 refugees are now living in Ukraine and another some 6,000-7,000 people are looking for shelter.
