Turkish President responded to Jemilev’s letter

July 26, the Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Jemilev sent a letter to the President of Turkey with words of support and condolence to the families of the killed in the coup attempt July 15, 2016.

The President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to the letter of support from the CrimeanTatar leader Mustafa Jemilev, as informed the Ukrainian Presidential Commissioner on Facebook.

First of all, Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed gratitude for the words of encouragement and sympathy of the Crimean Tatars in such difficult times for Turkey, noting that support of the brotherly people gave him even more strength to fight against the militants.

During the standing up to the deceitful coup attempt directed against our democracy and the freedom of our people, the sence of our brothers’, the Crimean Tatars, support has brought strength and lifted our spirits. Our people's faith and commitment to democracy made this bloody attempt a failure. All state institutions and agencies are carrying out their duties. In this connection, I convey my sincere congratulations and wish good health and prosperity to all the Crimean Tatar people, represented by You.

On July 26th, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Ukrainian MP and Commissioner of Ukrainian President on Crimean Tatars Affairs Mustafa Jemilev sent a letter to the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressing support to the Turkish people and condolences to the families of those killed in the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

It was reported earlier that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Binali Yildirim informed of a military coup attempt on the night of 15/16 July. A part of the Turkish military claimed responsibility for the events and declared the seizure of power in the country.
By Saturday morning July 16, the Turkish authorities managed to regain control over the situation.The coup inspirer and organizer was Fethullah Gülen, who is now in the United States. On July 19 Turkey's Justice Ministry sent a request to the US authorities for his extradition.
