On August 3, 2015, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting with leader of Crimean Tatars Mustafa Jemilev, President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov, Deputy Head of Mejlis Aslan Omer Kirimli and a delegate of Kurultay of the Crimean Tatars Rustem Umerov.
Turkish President Erdogan could not personally participate in the World Congress of Crimean Tatars because of his visit to Indonesia, press service of President of Ukraine’s Commissioner for Crimean Tatars reports.
In his address to the participants, Mr. Erdogan said that providing security to the Crimean Tatars in Crimea was a top priority for Turkey. The Turkish leader promised to further support the Crimean Tatars.
“Just as today, you can be assured of our support in the future. I am convinced that the World Congress will help foster solidarity of all Crimean Tatars, ensure peace and security and help in your fight.”
During his personal meeting with the leaders of the Crimean Tatars, Recep Tayyip Erdogan assured them of steadfastness and immutability of Turkish policy with regard to aggression against Ukraine and liberation of Crimea from occupation. The meeting, held behind closed doors in the presidential palace, went on for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
