Head of Turkey’s General Staff Hulusi Akar paid official visits to the Turkish towns of Gaziantep and Kilis. During the visits, Akar was accompanied by Head of Turkey’s Intelligence Service Hakan Fidan. After leaving an entry in the book of honorable guests, the two had a closed door meeting with Kilis Governor Suleiman Tapsyz.
Right after visiting Gaziantep, Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz went to Kilis where he met with the town’s Governor.
The goal of the visit and main items on the agenda were the ongoing fight with ISIS and latest developments in the region.
Over the last year, a total of 34 missiles were fired on the Turkish town of Kilis from Syria. Six men were killed and 23 wounded in the attacks.
