People can help to resolve the further fate of the Republic of Turkey's membership in the European Union, said Recep Tayyip Erdogan, assessing the recent statements of European politicians on the termination of a dialogue on membership.
“Make a decision at last. As the president of the Turkish Republic, I declare that we will wait until the end of the year, and then turn to the opinion of the people.”
Erdogan reiterated that the future fate of his country is determined not by the West, but the Turkish people.
As for the arrests of pro-Kurdish politicians, the Turkish guarantor claimed the continuation of a decisive struggle against terrorist groups, as well as their accomplices among politicians.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated that if a decision on the death penalty will be taken by Parliament, he would support it as a President.
The President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz does not rule out the introduction of restrictive measures against Turkey due to arrests of journalists and opposition members, and even termination of a dialogue on membership in the EU in case of Death Penalty Eligibility in Turkey.
