ANKARA (QHA) -

“Turkey will come up with countersanctions against Russia,” TASS reports citing Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.

“We are taking steps to minimize the damage done by the Russian sanctions to some sectors of our economy. We are not going to leave our exporters stranded, and there are things we can do to compensate for the damage. Turkey is working on its own countersanctions and we will take reciprocal steps, if necessary. But I hope it will never come to that,” said the Prime Minister.

On Monday, Turkish Vice Premier Numan Kurtulmuş said Turkey was working on reciprocal steps to counter the sanctions announced by Russia.

“We are not going to escalate the crisis. We are doing our best to make it end soon. Economically, if Russia takes a step, we take a counter step. Then we will have to take more steps. Therefore, we do not want to take steps and want Russia to do so, too. I hope we will not have to take steps at all,” said Kurtulmush.
