ANKARA (QHA) -

A statement on the resignation of the Interior Minister Efkan Ala was announced in the course of the meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim on August 31 at 7.30 p.m. local time.

Efkan Ala has been holding this office since May 24 as part of the 65th government of Turkey. Yıldırım thanked the former Minister for all the work done and said that as of now the post will be occupied by the Minister of Labour and Social Security of Turkey Suleyman Soylu. As for his previous position it will be occupied by the MP from the province of Bursa, Mehmet Myuezzinoglu.

The newly appointed Turkish Minister of Internal Affairs almost immediately made his first concise statement, saying such changes were a surprise for him as well.
