ANKARA (QHA) -

Turkey condemned the five year entrance ban to Crimea which was made to the head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov.

"The five year ban has no legal or legitimate grounds. This is an open violation of the European Convention of Human Rights," - reads the statement of Turkey's Foreign Ministry.

The statement also added that the ban signifies the "intolerance" towards Crimean Tatars' national struggle.

“They [Crimean Tatars, -ed.] are the native population of Crimea since the Mongol hordes' invasion in the 13th century”- the Foreign Ministry stated.

Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Jemilev, the head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov and his deputy Aslan Omer Kirimli met with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Monday, July 7.

The meting, that lasted more than an hour was held behind the closed doors.
