Turkey and Saudi Arabia can start a land operation against the jihadist group "Islamic state" (IS) in Syria, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu told the Turkish media returning to Ankara from the Munich International Security Conference on Saturday, February 13 as cited by DW.
- If the strategy is worked out, Turkey and Saudi Arabia can start a land operation, he said.
Cavusoglu added the government in Riyadh is also deploying combat aircrafts at the Turkish Air Base "Incirlik", which is used by the US Air Force to bomb the IS positions in Syria.
- They (officials of Saudi Arabia -ed.) arrived and had a look at the base. Currently, the exact number of Saudi aircrafts to be deployed at Incirlik is unclear, said the Head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Cavusoglu explained that now Turkey is trying to reset relations with the United Arab Emirates.
