Turkey and Israel reached understandings

During the meeting in London, the Turkish and Israeli delegation have reached understandings to normalize ties.

Today, the Turkish delegation headed by Ambassador and Advisor to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkey Feridun Sinirlioglu met with the Israeli delegation headed by Jacob Nagel, Advisor on National Security of Israel in London.

During the meeting, the delegations put finishing touches to the final agreement preceded by talks held in order to normalize the relations between two countries, as well as made progress in bridging differences.

Turkey put forward a demand that Israel apologizes for the incident with the ship "Mavi Marmara" and pays compensation to the victims’ families.

In order to achieve full consensus the parties plan to hold another meeting.

Turkey- Israel relations soured following the incident with the ship "Mavi Marmara." Then, in the international waters of the Mediterranean Sea, a group of Israeli soldiers intercepted a humanitarian convoy to the Gaza Strip and opened fire on the ship's crew. 8 Turkish citizens were killed and several dozen people injured.
