“Turkey has accused a Russian warplane of violating its airspace, reports Reuters citing a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on October 5.

According to the statement, two Turkish F-16 fighter jets were launched to intercept and escort the Russian warplane away from its airspace on October 3.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has lodged a protest with Russia urging it to refrain from such actions or face responsibility for any undesired consequences that may occur,” stresses the statement.

Turkish Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu has discussed the incident with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and key NATO partners, says the statement.
