Acting Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov has called for a boycott of the "pseudo-referendum," which he describes as "phony from start to finish," according to RFE/RL.

According to Turchynov the vote was organized by a "puppet Crimean pseudo-government under Russian military control" with results "pre-painted in the Kremlin."

While Russia insists the vote is legitimate, Kyiv and Western governments have dismissed it as "illegitimate." The European Union has said it won’t recognize its results.
