Ukraine should introduce a visa regime with Russia in 2016, said Alexander Turchinov, Secretary of the National Defense and Security Council in an interview aired by Channel 5.
“I’m confident we should introduce a genuine and rather stringent visa regime with the Russian Federation in 2016,” he said.
According to Turchinov, the government procrastinates over introduction of a visa regime with Russia because the latter may take reciprocal action toward Ukrainian citizens in Russia.
It was reported earlier that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry came up with a plan to implement a visa regime with Russia. However, Prime Minister Yatsenyuk said the Government would take its time introducing a visa regime with Russia.
