October 10, at the round table "Finding mechanisms to prevent impunity during the conflict in the East," the Deputy Minister on the temporarily occupied territories George Tuka shared the opinion that the initiative of the People's Deputy Nadezhda Savchenko will not help to resolve the situation, according to QHA correspondent.
“Negotiations with DPR and LPR terrorists are meaningless, because all the leaders in the field are just puppets of Russian generals. Russians are behind organization of prisoner exchange. I have repeatedly said that i9t does not make any sense to negotiate with Zakharchenko or Plotnitsky. They resolve nothing,” Tuka said at a roundtable in Kiev.
He went on saying that in Donbas Russia adheres to the same tactics with the hostages - citizens of Ukraine - as in the first and second Chechen wars.
“When the militants detained a prisoner, they deprived him of his name and surname and assigned an identification number instead. There is constant rotation between the points of custody. So prisoners do not have time to acquire basic communication or contacts so that no information about them was provided in the outer world,” Tuka said.
May 25, the People's Deputy of Ukraine Nadezhda Savchenko said that Kiev must establish a direct contact and dialogue with the representatives of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR". When asked about the first steps required to regain control over Donbas, the aviatrix said:
“First, to extend sanctions against RF because Russians have not yet realized that they need to leave. Second, go get in touch with "DPR" and "LPR" directly without Minsk agreements."
However, experts emphasize that Ukraine's position is based on the fact that the direct talks with the leaders of the self-proclaimed republics are unacceptable.
