“A trident-shaped national emblem has been installed atop the spire of the Verkhovna Rada building,” wrote Vladimir Groysman, Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, on his Facebook page.

“While trying to reform our parliament from within to make it work more effectively and to European standards, we will also be removing the symbols of the totalitarian past. There will be no coming back to dictatorship,” wrote Groysman.

It was reported earlier that a red star, a Communist symbol topping the spire of the building, was cut off in February 2014.
