During the meeting with the Luxembourg Foreign and European Affairs Minister Jean Asselborn, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked for the support and solidarity of world leaders, including Luxembourg, the European Union, the United States and Canada in the issue of counteracting Russian aggression and condemning the trade blockade of the ORDLO region.
"Our common position is to restore the currently occupied territories under Ukrainian sovereignty," the President said.
He also stressed the importance of compliance with the Minsk Agreements, as well as the returning of Ukrainian control over the uncontrolled section of the Russian-Ukrainian border.
“Unfortunately, other scenarios exist, being developed not in Ukraine and not in the European Union. They presuppose cutting off these territories, closing the borders along the contact line, presenting the aggressor with these territories, "the Head of state said.
Poroshenko went on saying that Russia's provocations lead to aggravation of the situation in the Donbas. He recalled that the Russian Federation recognized the illegal documents of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR", and later the Ukrainian enterprises were seized.
"Following the seizure, we can not have any trade relations with these "confiscated" enterprises. We will not allow any of their activities. And we ask for the support of these decisions, including strengthening the EU sanctions against the Russian Federation, over this gross violation of international law," Poroshenko stressed.
The President thanked the EU for the recent decision to extend sanctions over the illegal annexation of the Crimea.
