US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said he was satisfied with the interaction with Ukraine in the UN, and called the country a reliable partner of the United States in the Security Council, according to commentary of the press secretary of the Ukrainian Mission to the United Nations Oleg Nikolenko in Ukrinform on the results of a conversation between Ukraine's representative to the United Nations Vladimir Yelchenko and Rex Tillerson.
“A permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Vladimir Yelchenko had a short conversation with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. The American diplomat stressed that Ukraine is a reliable partner of the United States in the UN Security Council.”
In his turn, Vladimir Yelchenko thanked Rex Tillerson for the continued solidarity of the United States with Ukraine.
Earlier, on April 13 the Russian Federation once again used the right of veto in the UN Security Council and blocked a draft resolution on the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime in Syria. The project was prepared jointly by the delegations of the United States, Great Britain and France. In the vote it was supported by Ukraine, Egypt, Italy, Japan, Senegal, Sweden, Uruguay, France, the United States and Great Britain.
