Turkey's Interior Ministry reported that the intelligence had received information about the possible terrorist attacks at German and the UK embassies in Turkey, plotted by the ISIL organization.
The Security Services and the Embassies of the States were informed about a possible attack in the period of September 13 - 17. The four suspects (three in Ankara and one in Istanbul) were arrested during the operation by the Turkish law enforcement officers. But the evidence of their involvement in terrorist groups was not found.
Despite the absence of a direct threat, the embassies are currently closed. The Head of the Great Britain diplomatic mission Richard Moore commented on extremely efficient work of Turkish law enforcement agencies on his Twitter:
“Turkish authorities are taking the proper measures to avoid possible threats. As usual Turkish security authorities are providing us with the excellent support and cooperation. We rely on them in this regard. Thank you for your efforts. However, based on the current situation, the closure of the embassy is the only appropriate precaution,” he wrote.
