President of the Republic of Tatarstan (which is a federal subject of Russian Federation) Rustam Minnikhanov recognizes legitimacy of new Crimean Cabinet of Ministers headed by Sergey Aksyonov. He said this during a briefing in Simferopol.
Answering the question whether he considers new Crimean authorities legitimate, Minnikhanov said:
“And who considers it illegitimate? I don’t know, I came here, there are government, parliament, Mejlis…all legitimate, all is normal. Why are you asking such provocative questions? We came to visit our brothers.”
As reported, in the course of his visit to Crimea, Minnikhanov signed an agreement on cooperation with self-proclaimed Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov.
Minnikhanov told reporters that more specific areas of cooperation will be determined within the next month by experts from the two governments.
President of Tatarstan also met with Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people. During the meeting he noted that Crimean Tatars and Tatars from Tatarstan are “close brothers as we have one religion, historical ties, similar languages”. He also stressed the need for more active cooperation in future.
To recall, on March 4, Kyiv District Administrative Court declared illegal the decisions of the Crimean Parliament as for appointment of Sergey Aksyonov as Crimean Prime Minister and the planned referendum on the Autonomy’s empowerment.
