All-Tatar social center demands Crimean authorities to stop the persecution of Crimean Tatar people. Following statement was released on the web-site of the organization.
The center has appealed to the President and Prosecutor General of Russia demanding Crimean authorities not to violate the decree, signed by Vladimir Putin ‘on rehabilitation of Crimean Tatars’, and to stop political repressions against Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people.
“We demand Crimean authorities to stop prosecution of long-suffering Crimean Tatar people. One may not like political views of Mejlis leaders, still political repressions against civil organization [Mejlis] are a crime. We ask the President and Prosecutor General of Russia, that Crimean authorities not violating the decree on rehabilitation and stop political repressions against Crimean Tatars and we ask that those who allow illegal persecution on ethnic basis to be punished”- reads the statement.
“We also ask Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and EU leaders to protect Crimean Tatars from the tyranny of authorities”- it adds.
