The European Union has to impose additional sanctions against Russia for bombings on Syria, Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström stated in an interview with Der Spiegel.

“Russia's actions are absolutely unacceptable. Bombing civilians (in Syria, - Ed.) must end ... War crimes should be prosecuted legally. The EU could think about introduction of sanctions against Russia over the war in Syria,” said Wallström.

Earlier, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted two resolutions with the amendments proposed by the Ukrainian delegates. The resolutions imply the extension of sanctions against Russia to restore full sovereignty of Ukraine, condemnation of the illegal elections in Crimea as well as the prohibition of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
