AQMESCİT/SIMFEROPOL (QHA) - All-Ukrainian Association Svododa demands put to a referendum the issue on abolition of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the special legal status of Aqyar/Sevastopol. This political force insists to amend the Constitution of Ukraine according to the political programme of the Svoboda and promises given to their voters. The Svoboda Party stated Ukraine is unitary state and Crimea must be turned to one of Ukraine’s oblasts. The Aqyar City should be joined to the newly-founded Tavrian oblast. MP Oleh Tiahnybock, leader of the Svoboda, stated about this as far back as before the parliamentary elections.
The Verkhovna Rada of ARC has condemned sharply these intentions of the Svoboda. The Crimean deputies stressed in their official statement: “This statement demonstrates total neglect of the expression of the Crimean inhabitants who passed a referendum designed to create the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in 1991 as well as regulations of the current legislation”.
The Crimean deputies remind any amendments are possible only under decisions of the Verkhovna Rada of ARC based on the local referendum under the article 48 of the Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
“We shall not allow to political marginal persons to undermine the fundamental principles of the interethnic peace and tranquillity in Crimea!”, - the statement reads.
