Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Andriy Parubiy says the imposition of a state of emergency is being discussed as an option to stabilize the situation in Crimea.

He told this to reporters at a press briefing on Friday, Interfax-ukraine reports.

"We are considering a state of emergency as one of the scenarios. However, in reality the state of emergency does not give an opportunity to engage the armed forces," he said.

At the same time, Parubiy explained that individual military units may be engaged.

"Therefore, we consider other, more effective ways to localize the situation on the Crimean peninsula," he said.
