The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained a resident of Ternopol region, recruited by the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service). According to the SSU press service, this Ukrainian citizen has been cooperating with a foreign intelligence service since 2006, when he was serving his jail term in Russia.

After his release from prison in 2014, the offender was sent to Ternopol region with a special assignment from his FSB supervisor. The former prisoner tried to get information on the leadership of the Ukraine’s Armed Forces, as well as volunteer battalions and units.

Also the spy had to get into one of the nationalist right-wing organizations and goad them to create a group that would have committed a terrorist attack on the territory of the Russian Federation. This group was to be seized at the border. So far, the SSU conducts operative investigations.
