Turkey will continue to raise the issue of Crimea, illegally annexed by Russia, on the international agenda.
The Head of the Great National Assembly of Turkey İsmail Kahraman made a corresponding statement during the handover of the chairmanship in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation to the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, Ukrinform reports. The message says:
“The Head of the Great National Assembly of Turkey İsmail Kahraman said that Turkey supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. He informed the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that Turkey will continue to raise the issue of Crimea on the international agenda and will not let it remain silent.”
Parubiy thanked Kahraman for supporting Ukraine:
“Having occupied the Crimea and part of the territory of Donbas, Putin violated the entire system of international law and the system of international security that was developed after the Second World War. Putin can only be stopped by sanctions. And so we count on the support of our Turkish partners, in particular, and ask them to strengthen international pressure on the Russian aggressor.”
Moreover, the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine invited the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament to pay an official visit to Ukraine.
Earlier, QHA reported that on July 6, Ukraine takes the chairmanship of the PABSEC for the next 6 months.
