Chairman of the European Parliament Martin Schulz in an interview with the German edition of Nordwest-Zeitung noted that the Agreement signed between Ankara and Brussels on resolving the crisis of migration remains a priority.

Martin Schulz refused to accept all the speculation in the European media about the agreement between Ankara and Brussels, stressing that the Agreement will continue to be observed with a strong support of Turkey, which last year proved to be a great partner.

Despite his criticisms concerning the freedom of speech and human rights in Turkey, Schultz commends the Ankara working on reception and accommodation of irregular migrants on its territory.

The European Commission announced the launch of a large-scale humanitarian program to support Syrian refugees in Turkey. The program envisages the transfer of EUR 348 million for the electronic cards that will be issued to the Syrian refugees.
