The European Union can extend sanctions against the Russian Federation June 24, 2016, Rickard Yozvik, a Brussels journalist with "Radio Liberty" reported on Twitter.
- The EU Ambassadors are set to decide to extend the eco sanctions on Russia next week. The decision could be confirmed at general affairs council on 24 June, reads a statement.
Earlier, on June 14, following return to Ukraine a Ukrainian political prisoner Gennady Afanasiev asked not to lift sanctions and continue the policy of pressure on the Russian Federation in order that the rest of the Ukrainians who are illegally held in Russia could return home.
