Russian, Ukrainian PMs agree to meet

Ukraine's acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsia spoke by phone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the initiative of the Ukrainian side, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday, according to Ukrinform.

"In the context of the deterioration of the situation by pro-Russian forces in some cities of the eastern regions of our state the Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted the inadmissibility of external interference in the affairs of Ukraine and called on the Russian authorities to ensure implementation of previous agreements to de-escalate the security situation near the Ukrainian borders," the report reads.

The sides also discussed the protection of rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the unacceptability of forcible action and all forms of coercion that our countrymen are experiencing today.

The diplomats agreed to hold a meeting in the near future and continue the dialogue.
