Servicemen at a military base in the city of Maykop, the Adygea region, risk being placed under arrest and sentenced to a 10 year prison term for declining to go to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, a Russian Army soldier named Alexander told reporters.

“We got told we’d have to bribe our CO not to go to Donetsk,” said Alexander.

Five more solders in Maykop, who went AWOL after being given orders to advance to the Ukrainian border, are currently facing similar charges.

However, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is continuing to deny everything.
