SIMFEROPOL (QHA) - Today, on October 14, two Russian organizations, namely the Congress of Russian communities of Crimea and the Union of orthodox citizens of Crimea are holding a protest in front of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people to express their attitude towards historical work of Russian professor V. Vozgrin “History of Crimean Tatars”, QHA correspondent reports from the scene. About 100 people, mostly aged people participate in the meeting, headed by the Chairman of the Congress of Russian communities of Crimea, MP of Crimea Sergey Shuvaynikov. The protesters are carrying banners: “Stop splitting Russians and Tatars”, “Russophobia is in Vozgrin’s head”, “Russophobs have no place in Crimea” and others. A big number of law enforcement officers are providing order at the scene. “We want to attract attention of Mejlis leadership, who at present are engaged in dissemination of Vozgrin’s books in order not to have such cases in future neither from politicians nor from historians. We would like to draw the attention of the historians, who could hold a round table and come up with their expert opinion about Vozgrin’s work”, Shuvaynikov said earlier at a press conference. According to Shuvaynikov, neither Russian nor Tatar historians should not allow themselves russophobic or tatarophobic statements as this does not contribute to normal relations between the two nations. As reported earlier, on August 14, 2013, presentation of four volumes of Crimean Tatar history by famous Russian historian, Doctor of historical sciences, Professor Valeriy Vozgrin took place in Simferopol. Besides author’s research materials, the books contains documents from XV till XX centuries from 9 domestic and 2 foreign archives (Russia, Denmark, Sweden), essays of foreign historians, who have visited or lived in Crimea from the Middle Ages till XX century, diaries, collections of letters, travel notes of diplomats, doctors, militaries, evidences of Crimean Tatars and other publications.
